PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP CONTINUES ITS INTERNATIONAL
PRACTICE EXPANSION, OPENING A CLEVELAND OFFICE
-International Trade Attorney Jon P. Yormick Named Office Leader-
CLEVELAND – Phillips Lytle LLP, a full-service law firm with more than 40 practice areas, announced the opening of its ninth office, located in downtown Cleveland at One Cleveland Center, 1375 E. 9th Street, 30th Floor. Veteran international business and trade attorney Jon P. Yormick has joined the firm as Special Counsel and Cleveland Office Leader. Phillips Lytle has more than 400 employees located in six offices in New York State, as well as offices in Washington, D.C. and in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, part of Canada’s high-tech corridor, which stretches 100 kilometers to Toronto.
“Phillips Lytle is thrilled to add an attorney of Jon’s caliber,” said Phillips Lytle Managing Partner Kevin M. Hogan. “The firm’s International Practice has been expanding for years, as U.S. clients look to grow in the global market and foreign companies expand to the U.S., often seeking investment and strategic alliances with partners in the U.S. We also recognize the significance of the evolving and complex issues relating to importing and exporting goods and services, and compliance with ever-changing laws and regulations. We believe Jon’s experience and leadership will provide great value to our clients in international trade matters.”
In 2018, Phillips Lytle received the President’s “E” Award for Export Service at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. The President’s “E” Award is the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.
In its International Practice, Phillips Lytle advises and represents publicly traded, privately held, and market leading companies, and provides a full range of services, including compliance counseling and defense, commercial litigation and arbitration, data security and privacy, entity and joint venture formation, intellectual property rights, international tax advice, mergers and acquisitions, and recapitalization/restructuring.
In his Customs & International Trade Practice, Mr. Yormick represents U.S. and non-U.S. clients before various federal government agencies on matters involving import and export laws and regulations. He regularly advises and represents clients on matters such as compliance programs, due diligence reviews, investigations, penalty proceedings, export licensing of defense and “dual use” items and technologies, economic sanctions and trade embargoes, prior and voluntary self-disclosures of violations, investigations, penalty proceedings, ruling requests, Commodity Jurisdiction determinations, and scope rulings and administrative reviews regarding antidumping/countervailing duty orders.
“Opening the Phillips Lytle office in Cleveland allows the firm to expand its International Practice and brings its Customs & International Trade Practice to the forefront. It will also give my clients access to the wealth of legal knowledge and experience the firm’s attorneys have to offer, including expertise on New York State law that often governs international agreements and disputes,” said Mr. Yormick. “I am very pleased and fortunate to have this opportunity to open the Cleveland Office for Phillips Lytle, and I look forward to expanding relationships in this market where I have practiced over the past 25 years.”
