Phillips Lytle LLP Partner Anna Mercado Clark participated in a panel discussion on December 10, 2021, on the historical and current acts of aggression and insensitivity towards Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in the United States. The presentation, titled “Kung Flu: A History of Hostility and Violence Against AAPIs,” was held as part of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association Convention in Washington, D.C.

The panel was the 13th in a series of historic reenactments presented by the Asian American Bar Association and examined the history of anti-AAPI violence and rhetoric from the late 1800’s through the current COVID-19 pandemic via narration, the reenactment of court proceedings and photos.

Ms. Clark was joined by several panelists, including the Honorable Denny Chin, U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, the Honorable Ona Wang, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, and others.
