Anna Mercado Clark is speaking at the 27th Annual Bankruptcy Conference hosted by the CNY Bankruptcy Bar Association and Capital District Bankruptcy Bar Association. Her presentation, titled “Privacy Considerations in Bankruptcy Proceedings,” will discuss the ethical rules, state laws and regulations that may apply to legal professionals. Bankruptcy practitioners and trustees, in particular, may have unique considerations relating to court proceedings or debtor asset sales or transfers. These obligations may stem from the Bankruptcy Code, state or common law, or even foreign law, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Attendees will learn about these obligations and how to mitigate possible reputational, regulatory and litigation risks by developing a compliance program that considers these overlapping requirements.
