Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP will host a harassment investigation training webinar titled, “Be Ready Before You Receive a Complaint.” The webinar will take place on Thursday, March 28th from noon to 1:00 p.m. Phillips Lytle Partner James D. Donathen and Attorney Joanna J. Chen will present.

This webinar will examine how to respond to a complaint of discrimination and/or harassment. It will cover what effective questions to ask, how to craft a thorough investigative report, and how to mitigate your organization’s risk. Attendees will gain first-hand knowledge on all steps needed to conduct a thorough investigation, including how to inform employees of the result of the investigation.

Mr. Donathen has practiced in the area of workplace law and litigation for more than 30 years. He handles federal and state discrimination lawsuits and agency charges under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and the N.Y. Human Rights Law, and investigates and litigates employee disloyalty matters, including covenants not to compete, trade secrets, confidential information, and theft of product.

Ms. Chen concentrates her practice in the areas of class action and complex commercial disputes, including theft of trade secrets, breach of contract, and business torts. Additionally, she has experience in counseling private and public entities on employment matters, and defending federal and state employment lawsuits involving FLSA, Titles II and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, ADA, and the New York Human Rights Law.
