PHILLIPS LYTLE PARTNERS CRAIG R. BUCKI AND JOHN G. SCHMIDT NAMED DELEGATES FOR NATIONAL PARTY CONVENTIONS

Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP Partners Craig R. Bucki and John G. Schmidt will represent their parties at the upcoming national political conventions. Mr. Bucki will be a delegate representing New York’s 27th Congressional District at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on July 25-28, and Mr. Schmidt will be an Alternate Delegate representing New York’s 26th Congressional District at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on July 18-21.

Mr. Bucki has served as a member of the Amherst Democratic Committee since 2000. For a decade, he has also been a member of the Amherst Democratic Executive Committee, and coordinator of Amherst’s Democratic election inspectors. Since September 2010, he has represented his Assembly district (the 148th from September 2010 to October 2012, and the 146th from October 2012 to the present) on the New York State Democratic Committee, which, among other things, endorses Democratic candidates for Statewide office. He has participated in many campaigns for Democratic candidates in Amherst.

Mr. Bucki focuses his practice on litigation involving state and municipal government, public authorities, and other quasi-governmental entities. In this practice area, Mr. Bucki has experience in prosecuting disciplinary hearings against public employees, representing political candidates in election law disputes, challenging the constitutionality of state statutes and municipal ordinances, obtaining review of the decisions of state and municipal agencies in special proceedings pursuant to Article 78 of the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules, and advising governmental clients concerning issues of governance and compliance with state law.

Since 2010, Mr. Schmidt has served as Second Vice-Chair of the Erie County Republican Committee (ECRC) and Chair of the Republican Leadership Council. Since 2003, he has been active in the ECRC Republican Lawyers Club and many campaigns for Republican candidates.

Mr. Schmidt concentrates his practice in the areas of business disputes, commercial litigation, employee disloyalty, elder fraud, technology litigation, computer forensics, white collar/government investigations defense, FDCPA defense and class action defense.
