Phillips Lytle LLP Partner Richard E. Honen Serves As Judge at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Business Model Competition

PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP PARTNER RICHARD E. HONEN SERVES AS JUDGE AT THE RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE BUSINESS MODEL COMPETITION ON FEBRUARY 25, 2015 

Albany, N.Y. – Richard E. Honen, a partner with Phillips Lytle LLP, a premier regional law firm that is recognized nationally for its legal excellence, served as a judge for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Business Model Competition (RPIBMC).

This year’s competition was held on February 25, 2015 at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Lally School of Business at the Darrin Communications Center.

The student competitors were judged on their ability to break down ideas into key business model assumptions, testing their assumptions in the marketplace, learning from the failures/successes of those tests and applying them to their model, and learning to pivot until they have arrived at a customer-validated business model.

The goal of the RPIBMC was not only to provide teams with prizes of cash and in-kind services, but also to provide entrepreneurs with the opportunity to improve their business through workshops, customer interviews, coaching, feedback an live practice sessions in preparation for the myriad of competition opportunities held annually each spring across the nation and globally.

Mr. Honen focuses his practice in banking, corporate and venture capital law, and commercial litigation. As leader of the firm’s venture capital team, he provides corporate counsel to a broad spectrum of companies with a particular emphasis on emerging growth and start-up companies.
