PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP ATTORNEY ALISSA M. FORTUNA-VALENTINE TO RECEIVE HON. JUDITH S. KAYE COMMERCIAL AND FEDERAL LITIGATION SCHOLARSHIP
New York, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP Attorney Alissa M. Fortuna-Valentine will receive the Hon. Judith S. Kaye Commercial and Federal Litigation Scholarship from the New York State Bar Association Commercial & Federal Litigation Section. The award will be presented at an event on Monday November 14th at the United States District Court Southern District of New York Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse Ceremonial in New York City.
To honor the memory of Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye, the Commercial & Federal Litigation Section created through a gift made to The New York Bar Foundation, The Honorable Judith S. Kaye Commercial and Federal Litigation Scholarship. The Kaye Scholarship will be awarded to up to five female litigators who will be called Kaye Scholars and it will pay for their attendance at the 2017 Commercial Litigation Academy. The goal of the Kaye Scholarship is to increase the number of women prepared to serve as first chair in large commercial cases. The Commercial Litigation Academy is sponsored by the New York State Bar Association and the Commercial & Federal Litigation Section.
Ms. Fortuna-Valentine concentrates her practice in the area of business litigation, with particular emphasis on labor and employment law. Her practice experience includes defense of employers faced with employment discrimination suits in Federal court as well as representation of employers before the New York State Division of Human Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Additionally, Ms. Fortuna-Valentine’s practice experience includes representation of businesses with regard to collections claims, breach of contract claims and shareholder disputes.
