Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP Partner Lisa L. Smith co-chaired “Mastering Class Action Lawsuits: All You Need to Know,” a full-day program on class action litigation at the New York State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting in New York City. The program took place on January 17, 2019 at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City. Speakers included Hon. Eugene M. Fahey of the New York Court of Appeals, Professor John Coffee, Jr. of Columbia Law School, and Phillips Lytle Partner Peter A. Bellacosa.
Ms. Smith is an experienced litigator and leader of Phillips Lytle’s Product Liability and Mass Tort Litigation Practice Team. Her practice focuses on product liability and mass tort litigation, including defending class actions, MDLs, and other aggregate litigation. Ms. Smith handles complex litigation across multiple jurisdictions, with a focus on the defense of chemical, pharmaceutical, and other product liability cases, as well as environmental claims.
Mr. Bellacosa concentrates his practice in the areas of product liability, mass torts, class action defense, ERISA, securities, and commercial disputes. He also has extensive experience with criminal and regulatory investigations, as well as handling matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and in arbitrations. Mr. Bellacosa has represented a diverse group of leading U.S. and international companies in complex, high-stakes disputes. Prior to joining Phillips Lytle, Mr. Bellacosa was a partner in Kirkland & Ellis LLP’s litigation department for over 20 years.
