PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP ATTORNEY JOEL L. THAYER TO PARTICIPATE AS PANELIST ON WEBINAR “FCC V. DOD SPECTRUM FIGHT: LIGADO, GPS AND THE FUTURE OF SPECTRUM POLICY” HOSTED BY LINCOLN NETWORK AND PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE
Washington, D.C. – Phillips Lytle LLP Attorney Joel L. Thayer will participate as a panelist on the webinar “FCC v. DoD Spectrum Fight: Ligado, GPS and the Future of Spectrum Policy.” The webinar, hosted by the Lincoln Network and Public Knowledge, will take place on Tuesday, June 23rd at 3:00 p.m.
In the last month there has been growing scrutiny over the FCC’s approval of Ligado; but, Ligado is only the most recent flare-up in fights between the FCC and federal agencies on 5G spectrum policy. This panel will feature bipartisan experts sharing their perspectives on the FCC’s approval order, the integrity of the interagency process and the future of spectrum allocation.
Mr. Thayer focuses his practice on telecommunications, regulatory and transaction matters, as well as privacy and cybersecurity issues. He has advised technology companies on the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and has authored guidance to help small business software developers navigate the ever-evolving regulatory landscape due to the GDPR’s enactment. Additionally, Mr. Thayer’s practice extends to both administrative and constitutional law.
Prior to joining Phillips Lytle, Mr. Thayer served as Policy Counsel for ACT | The App Association, where he advised on legal and policy issues related to antitrust, telecommunications, privacy, cybersecurity and intellectual property in Washington, D.C. His experience also includes working as legal clerk for the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Trade Commission.
