THREE PHILLIPS LYTLE ATTORNEYS TO SPEAK AT ERIE INSTITUTE OF LAW EVENT: LEGAL, MEDICAL AND ETHICAL ASPECTS OF END-OF-LIFE AND PALLIATIVE CARE AND PLANNING: WHAT EVERY NEW YORK LAWYER NEEDS TO KNOW
Buffalo, N.Y. – Three attorneys from Phillips Lytle LLP, a premier regional law firm that is recognized nationally for its legal excellence, will speak at the Erie Institute of Law event: Legal, Medical and Ethical Aspects of End-of-Life and Palliative Care and Planning: What Every New York Lawyer Needs to Know. The program is jointly sponsored by the Erie County Bar Association Health Care Law and Elder Law Committees. Phillips Lytle Partner Sharon Prise Azurin will participate in the panel discussion, “Clinical, Social and Ethical Issues in Palliative Care and Life–Sustaining Treatment.” Phillips Lytle Partner and Chair of the Bar’s Health Care Law Committee, William P. Keefer, and Phillips Lytle Counsel Lisa McDougall will role play parties involved in end–of–life care for a patient whose wishes may be unclear, using a hypothetical with variations. The event is being held on September 11 at the Erie County Bar Association Headquarters, 438 Main Street in Buffalo.
Ms. Azurin concentrates her practice in the areas of corporate, commercial and health law, including business and not-for-profit corporation formation and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance.
Mr. Keefer coordinates Phillips Lytle’s Health Law Practice Team. He counsels hospitals, physician groups and other health care clients on a broad array of issues, including fraud and abuse, corporate compliance, transactional arrangements, payer audits, agency actions and federal and state court litigation.
Ms. McDougall focuses her practice on health care matters, including compliance issues, fraud and abuse, HIPAA, advance planning directives and end-of-life decision making, information management and “e-health.”
