PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP PARTNER RICHARD E. HONEN TO SERVE AS JUDGE FOR FINALS OF NEW YORK BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION
Albany, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle Venture Capital & Technology Team and Albany Office Leader Richard E. Honen will serve as a judge at the Final Round of 2021 New York Business Plan Competition (NYBPC). Mr. Honen will be one of the Finals judges in the Food and Ag track at the virtual event, which will be held May 6-7.
This event, hosted by Upstate Capital, is a celebration of student entrepreneurship across New York State and has opportunities for investors, entrepreneurs, business professionals and people interested in entrepreneurship to gain access to startups, investors and experts across the state.
The NYBPC is an annual competition featuring the best student teams from every region of New York State since 2010. Each year, student teams compete for prize money and recognition. The program provides opportunities for students enrolled in colleges and universities across New York State to gain entrepreneurial skills and compete on their ingenuity – first on campus, then in the region, and for top teams, the Statewide finals.
In addition to leading the firm’s Venture Capital & Technology Team, Mr. Honen focuses his practice in corporate, finance and venture capital law, as well as complex commercial litigation. He provides corporate counsel to a broad spectrum of companies from startup to Fortune 50, and has lectured extensively, particularly on the topics of corporate law, venture capital and angel investing.
