Phillips Lytle to Host Reception for the Endowment Boy Scout Council on Thursday, August 1 at One Canalside Office in Downtown Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP will host a reception for the Endowment Committee of Greater Niagara Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts of America titled “Giving Questions, Scouting Answers,” on Thursday, August 1, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. outdoors on the deck of the Phillips Lytle Office at One Canalside.

John G. Schmidt, Jr., a partner at Phillips Lytle and Past President of the Greater Niagara Frontier Council, serves on the Executive Board of the Council and is a member of the Endowment Committee. Mr. Schmidt’s interest in the Endowment Committee began during his Wood Badge training. Wood Badge is an advanced, national leadership course in Scouting open only to Scouting volunteers and professionals. The servant leadership emphasis of Wood Badge includes a service project in support of Scouting. He chose to work with the Endowment Committee for his Wood Badge project.

“Our Council’s Endowment Fund helps preserve the future of Scouting in Western New York for the next generation,” said Mr. Schmidt. “Our committee has several professionals with experience in all aspects of planned giving. There are many instruments that offer tax advantages to individuals while providing philanthropic support to Scouting.”

The event is free and open to anyone considering how their legacy can support Scouting in Western New York. Parking is available near Washington Street and throughout the Canalside District. Light refreshments will be provided.
