PARTICIPATE ON PANEL AT THE NEW YORK STATE WRITERS INSTITUTE EVENT
“TELLING THE TRUTH IN A POST-TRUTH WORLD”
Albany, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle Partner and Albany Office Leader Richard E. Honen will participate in a panel discussion at the New York State Writers Institute event “Telling the Truth in a Post-Truth World.” The event will be held October 12-14 on the University at Albany campus, and features acclaimed journalists, authors, historians, and First Amendment scholars, who will discuss topics crucial to the survival of an open democratic society in today’s “Post-Truth” environment. Mr. Honen will participate on the panel titled “The First Amendment & Free Speech Under Attack” on Saturday, October 14.
Topics will include “fake news” and alternative facts, media in the age of new technology, the first amendment and free speech, presidents and the press, race and class in a democracy, and cybercrimes and civil liberties, among others.
Mr. Honen focuses his practice in corporate, finance, and venture capital law, as well as complex commercial litigation. He is the firm’s Venture Capital Team Leader and is the Partner in Charge of the firm’s Albany office. He provides corporate counsel to a broad spectrum of companies from startup to Fortune 50 and has lectured extensively, particularly on the topics of corporate law, venture capital, and angel investing. He also represents companies in complex commercial litigation matters.
