PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP PARTNERS DOUGLAS W. DIMITROFF AND SANDHYA MEHTA TO ASSIST WITH 43NORTH COMPETITION PROMOTIONAL EFFORTS DURING INDIA VISIT

Buffalo, N.Y. – Douglas W. Dimitroff and Sandhya Mehta, partners with Phillips Lytle LLP, a premier regional law firm that is recognized nationally for its legal excellence, will assist in promoting the 43North—Global Business Idea Competition during an upcoming business trip (April 17-24, 2015) to India and the startup hotbed cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Mr. Dimitroff and Ms. Mehta are scheduled to meet with representatives of TLABS Accelerator, The Entrepreneurship School, and various other co-working spaces, incubators and accelerators, in order to distribute informational materials and field questions about the $5 million Buffalo-based competition.

Phillips Lytle LLP is an original sponsor of 43North and hosted the competition’s initial launch event, while also providing judging process support, and access to facilities for presentations and mentorship in both Kitchener-Waterloo and Buffalo. In addition, the firm actively contributed to the inaugural 43North Finals Week.

43North is the world’s largest business idea competition, due to its financial packages that include: a top cash prize of $1 million, along with six $500,000 prizes and four $250,000 prizes. Winners also receive free incubator space for a year in Buffalo, and guidance from mentors related to their field. The application period is open at 43North.org until June 24, 2015. The competition operates as part of the NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Buffalo Billion initiative, with $6 million in support from the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and $1 million from Empire State Development (ESD).

Mr. Dimitroff is the leader of Phillips Lytle’s Telecommunications Practice Team. He has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications matters, representing telecommunications carriers, infrastructure providers, and numerous other clients involved in the telecommunications industry. His representation has included transactional and litigation matters, such as zoning and land use matters for wireless telecommunications carriers, tower owners and developers; and site leasing work, site development and asset sales and purchases throughout the U.S.

He received his B.A. from University of Rochester and his J.D., cum laude, from State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law.

Mr. Dimitroff serves as vice chair of the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise board of directors, and is also a member of its steering committee and finance & audit committee.

Ms. Mehta advises businesses on corporate, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property and technology transactions, as well as India-U.S. matters. She has represented high-profile Indian companies in industries such as automotive, medical devices, genomics, pharmaceuticals, financial services and IT consulting, with respect to conducting business in the U.S. Ms. Mehta is also licensed to practice law in India.

She received her B.A., with honors from Oxford University, her LL.B., First Class with distinction, from Delhi University, and her LL.M., from Columbia University School of Law.
