PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP PARTNERS KENNETH A. MANNING AND LISA L. SMITH NAMED FELLOWS OF THE LITIGATION COUNSEL OF AMERICA
The LCA is a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only. Fellows are selected based upon excellence and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation. Established as a trial and appellate lawyer honorary society reflecting the American bar in the twenty-first century, the LCA represents the best in law among its membership. The number of Fellowships has been kept at an exclusive limit by design, allowing qualifications, diversity, and inclusion to align effectively, with recognition of excellence in litigation across all segments of the bar. In addition, the LCA is dedicated to promoting superior advocacy, professionalism, and ethical standards among its Fellows.
Mr. Manning has experience in bet-the-company corporate and commercial litigation, including dissolution proceedings, employment termination disputes, and controversies involving the sale of goods and services. In addition to personal injury and wrongful death claims involving products liability, workplace accidents, negligence, and environmental exposure experience, Mr. Manning has prosecuted and defended class actions in both state and federal courts. He also has experience in challenges to governmental actions, including taxes and assessments, as well as actions for declaratory relief. Additionally, Mr. Manning concentrates his practice in the area of education law and as leader of Phillips Lytle’s Education Practice Team.
Ms. Smith is an experienced litigator and leader of Phillips Lytle’s Product Liability and Mass Tort Litigation Practice Team, and its Crisis Management and Response Team. She concentrates her practice in the areas of litigating product liability, toxic tort, environmental, and premises liability cases, typically in class action, MDL, or other aggregate litigation settings. Ms. Smith handles complex litigation across multiple jurisdictions, with a focus on the defense of pharmaceutical, chemical, and other product liability cases, as well as environmental claims, where law and science intersect.
