DOPKINS & COMPANY LLP, KEYBANK AND PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP TO HOST SEMINAR “FRAUD AWARENESS: THE FIRST STEP IN FRAUD PREVENTION – WHAT’S YOUR PLAN?”
Buffalo, N.Y. – Dopkins & Company LLP, KeyBank and Phillips Lytle LLP hosted a discussion on fraud prevention on Wednesday April 29 at the Buffalo Club, 388 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. A panel of experts discussed fraud prevention strategy; how your bank can help you stop or reduce fraud loss, and the legal steps you may take after fraud is discovered.
Key takeaways for attendees included identification of red flags, strategy and tactics for defense, and knowledge of what to do if fraud is suspected or identified.
Bart McGloin, a partner with Dopkins & Company LLP served as moderator for the discussion. Mr. McGloin is the chair of the Dopkins Forensic Group and concentrates his practice in the areas of fraud investigations, complex litigation support matters and consulting on issues involving occupational fraud prevention and mitigation. He has consulted on numerous fraud engagements, including the high profile multi-billion dollar Adelphia Cable fraud case and has served as an expert witness in both courtroom and arbitration settings. Through his extensive experience with attorneys, he represents both plaintiff and defendant cases. He is a frequent lecturer and trainer on the topic of forensic accounting and litigation support to attorneys, bankers and in academic environments. Mr. McGloin is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ed Hackett, vice president with Enterprise Commercial Payments, Treasury Services, KeyBank – Mr. Hackett specializes in providing treasury solutions to corporate clients with sales revenues greater than $20K. He is based in Buffalo, NY, covers the Western New York market, several larger corporate relationships outside the Key Bank footprint and also works with Key’s Native American Financial Services team supporting cash management relationships with Native American governments and their business enterprises.
Timothy W. Hoover, Partner, Phillips Lytle LLP – Mr. Hoover co-chairs Phillips Lytle LLP’s White Collar Criminal Defense & Government Investigations Practice Team. He represents businesses, executives, and individuals, whether they are grand jury targets, witnesses, victims or defendants. He defends a wide variety of federal, state and local criminal matters and investigations, including white collar cases, complex fraud cases, tax cases, and environmental matters. Mr. Hoover has extensive grand jury, courtroom, trial and motion experience. His practice includes defending government investigations, counseling clients, and handling administrative matters, debarment proceedings and litigation involving an array of federal and state agencies.
Thomas M. O’Connor, Consultant, Dopkins System Consultants, Dopkins & Company LLP – Mr. O’Connor provides information security consulting, IT audit and IT assurance services. His most recent forensic investigation role included performing physical inventory counts, analyzing financial records, developing investigatory theories and preparing forensic reports. He also assists businesses by developing, implementing and supporting ERP solutions. He is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA). He holds an MS in Forensic Accounting as well as a BS in Accounting and Accounting Information Systems.
