Emerging Attorney: Amanda Lowe

The first thing Amanda Lowe does each morning before going to Phillips Lytle LLP is help her husband, Mark, get their daughter Alexandra ready for day care.

Amanda Lowe is an attorney who focuses on commercial litigation, class action, education, labor and employment, personal injury, and trust and estate litigation.

She grew up in Kennedy in Chautauqua County and attended the University at Buffalo for her undergraduate degree and law school, finishing in 2008. Like many other millennials, she has some student loan debt. “Who doesn’t?” she joked.

Away from the office, she likes to spend time with her family and golden retriever Zoe. She also is a volunteer at the SPCA Serving Erie County.

Do you prefer working from home, in the office or somewhere else? I prefer a combination – the office, a courtroom, our home office, client conference room, etc. That way it’s never boring.

What bit of advice do you wish you had received before entering the professional world? Be yourself. I do a ton of interviews for new and lateral attorneys and I want to get to know the real you. I grew up in the country in a very small town (that I’m very proud of) and I love talking about my experience and where I’m from. When I’m interviewing someone, I want to know what makes them tick, what makes them unique, etc.

How do you manage your time effectively? I’m lucky to have two awesome assistants who help me keep up with a fast-paced practice.

Where do you see yourself in your career in 10 years? At Phillips Lytle. I truly love where I work.

Do you have a good relationship with your boss? I am my own boss, so yes! All kidding aside, I have a great working relationship with my partners, associates and staff, which makes the workday fly by.
