Mitch Snyder

Mitch is a skilled trial attorney who represents clients on a broad range of matters including complex commercial disputes, government litigation, data privacy and cybersecurity, and white collar defense and government investigations.

From complex commercial disputes to workplace fraud and internal investigations, Mitch employs a strategic approach to obtain the best results for his clients. His experience includes conducting internal investigations, litigating complex commercial cases, advising clients on data privacy and governance issues, and representing individuals and businesses with claims against the government.

Mitch regularly represents clients in litigation involving state and municipal governments, public authorities, and other governmental entities. His experience includes challenging and defending the constitutionality of state statutes and municipal ordinances, and obtaining review of the regulations and adjudicatory decisions of state and municipal agencies in special proceedings pursuant to Article 78 of the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules.

Mitch has significant jury and bench trial experience having litigated numerous cases, both felony and misdemeanor, for the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office.
Because of his experience working as a prosecutor, Mitch has extensive experience interfacing and coordinating with state and federal law enforcement.

As a member of the Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Team, Mitch assists clients in responding to data breaches, ransomware, cyberattacks, and other data security incidents. Utilizing his experience conducting internal investigations, Mitch works alongside his clients to identify and investigate data security incidents. He also counsels sophisticated clients on data governance, including compliance with the complex and rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

Prior to law school, Mitch worked for a Pennsylvania political and communications consulting firm, where he advised candidates for federal and state office and private corporations on matters of strategic communication.

Representative Matters

Business Litigation

  • Conducted numerous internal investigations into employee misconduct for a Fortune 500 company.
  • Obtained an Order from the U.S. District Court granting his client’s Motion to Dismiss and Compel Arbitration in eight consolidated consumer protection and trade practices cases.

Data Privacy and Cybersecurity

  • Advised sophisticated clients on compliance with complex regulations, including the GLBA, TCPA, and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
  • Counseled companies in response to cyberattacks and data incidents, including threat identification and mitigation.

Government Operations Litigation

  • Represented numerous business and government entities in Article 78 Proceedings, including a case challenging the New York State Office of Cannabis Management’s regulations on statutory and constitutional grounds.
  • Represented clients in 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claims against New York State for constitutional violations.
  • Represented a client in appeal to the Appellate Division, Fourth Department challenging the government’s trespass onto and seizure of private property.
