Michael Staszkiw

With a focus on data privacy and cybersecurity, Michael represents clients in a wide range of matters, including compliance with federal and state privacy laws.

From reviewing data processing agreements to drafting policies and procedures, he is known for his strategic approach to developing customized solutions that meet clients’ legal obligations while achieving their business needs. In particular, he has reviewed numerous data processing addenda for clients and assisted them in general data security compliance issues including drafting data protection policies and procedures, assisting in data incident response, and performing privacy and data security gap assessments.

Michael is a highly-skilled and knowledgeable attorney with a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). The CIPP is the global standard in privacy certification, demonstrating a commitment to staying up to date with the latest developments in the field of data privacy.

In addition to data privacy matters, Michael also represents clients in state and federal courts in New York State.

Prior to joining Phillips Lytle, Michael was an appellate court attorney for the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department.
