André J. Washington

Associate Rochester

A knowledgeable and passionate advocate for banking and financial services clients.

André represents regional and national lenders with respect to a variety of financing transactions, including community development lending to construct affordable housing for low-income families, seniors, and people living with mental illness or physical disabilities. The community development lending transactions involve the use of federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits and other federal and state tax credits as well as municipal bond financings. André’s practice also involves representing national lenders in construction financing and commercial real estate transactions.

Prior to joining Phillips Lytle, he represented bank and non-bank lenders in connection with private equity leveraged buy-outs, REIT financings and other corporate lending transactions, including senior secured and unsecured credit facilities, unitranche financings, first lien and second lien transactions, subordinated financings, and cash flow as well as asset-based transactions. His extensive experience in banking and corporate representation includes drafting and negotiating credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, security and pledge agreements, servicing agreements and other ancillary finance transaction documents, as well as the review and analysis of due diligence.

André’s breadth of knowledge is an asset for banks, financial institutions and borrowers in need of strategic counsel.
