Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP has appointed Kirk R. Rossi as its chief operating officer, bringing on an experienced business professional with substantial financial acumen and deep expertise in optimizing law firm operations. Mr. Rossi joins the firm to help harness and nurture its rapid growth, after serving as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Day Pitney.
“With the substantial expansion underway at Phillips Lytle, it became apparent that we needed a skilled business leader to bring fresh ideas and strategic thinking to optimize our operations and strengthen our expanding workforce,” said Phillips Lytle Managing Partner Kevin M. Hogan. “Mr. Rossi brings over 30 years of experience across several industries and has proven his abilities to manage organizations while developing personnel. His skillset will help us sustain the exciting growth we’re experiencing across our office locations.”
Mr. Rossi will act as an integral member of Phillips Lytle’s leadership team responsible for leading and directing business operations across the Firm in close coordination with the Managing Partner and Firm Governing Committee. His background in business operations, including personnel management, financial oversight, strategic planning and business transformation, and his administrative leadership skills have allowed him to successfully direct teams at various organizations, such as Arthur Andersen, Global Crossing and Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
In his most recent role as chief operating officer at Day Pitney, Mr. Rossi transformed the administrative team that helped to enable growth and stability across the firm. His innovative approach to change management, as well as financial design and strategy, resulted in improved partner retention while expanding the organization through the strategic acquisition of boutique firms and practices in areas of strength.

Mr. Rossi, who resides in New Jersey, will be based out of the firm’s New York City office and will maintain a regular presence in its offices in Albany, Buffalo, Chicago, Rochester, Washington, D.C., and beyond. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, graduating magna cum laude from Montclair State University in 1992.
