Aging public housing complex to be redeveloped into a modern affordable-housing community

Diana Konik was quoted in The Buffalo News article, titled “New Marine Drive Apartments will be smaller than first planned,” in which she notes that, due to higher than anticipated updated construction estimates, some of the details for Phase 1 of the new Marine Drive Apartments have been revised. Instead of 738 apartments as originally planned, it will now have 686. National developers are working with the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority on a plan to redevelop the entire waterfront complex by demolishing the seven public-housing towers and constructing eight new buildings, including a community center, mid-rise apartment buildings, parking ramps and new 12-story towers, totaling more than 1 million square feet of space.
