Plans and renderings for redevelopment of Marine Drive Apartments released

Lindsay E. Haubenreich is the project attorney for the redevelopment of the Marine Drive Apartments, a three-phase, eight-year project that will transform Buffalo’s waterfront. This is one of the biggest redevelopment projects in Buffalo’s history, in a very visible location. Developers working with the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority are laying out detailed plans for the $400 million project, which includes tearing down the seven 12-story public-housing towers currently at Marine Drive, and constructing a modern affordable housing complex with bigger units, more amenities and retail space.

In a letter to the Buffalo Planning Board, Lindsey wrote, “The project represents a major step forward in providing safe and modern affordable housing to the residents of the complex. An outdated, poorly designed, densely populated affordable housing project will be replaced with modern, well-designed housing.”

Eight new structures totaling more than 1 million square feet of space will be built, creating 738 new apartments, 855 parking spaces, 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and commercial space, new public roads, a public plaza and greenspace.
