Ms. Clark will join panelists Sanjeev Bhasker, U.S. Digital Currency Counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice, and Robert Uy, Chief Legal Officer and Co-Founder of Coinroll, to discuss cryptocurrency privacy and security issues and regulations.
Blockchain and distributed ledger technology overall has seen increased adoption through the years, particularly in cryptocurrency. Privacy and security challenges continue to emerge. With at least one 2021 study estimating P2P cryptocurrency adoption at 2300% since the third quarter of 2019 and over 881% in the prior year, adoption of the technology by companies and some governments, and the significant turbulence in the crypto market in the first half of 2022, regulators are taking notice. This panel of cryptocurrency experts will discuss cryptography methods and privacy coins that seek to provide heightened cryptocurrency privacy. They will also explore other emerging financial technology and the existing and developing regulatory landscape. This is especially relevant as certain states, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and international money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), signal that they are poised to implement regulatory action that may have a significant privacy impact on those who transact with cryptocurrency. The panelists will also discuss practical tips on how to comply with these regulations while balancing privacy concerns.

She is a member of EDRM at Duke Law, a community of e-Discovery and legal professionals who create practice resources to improve e-Discovery and information governance, including cross-border discovery in light of the General Data Protection Regulation. Ms. Clark regularly speaks at national and international conferences as a subject-matter expert on these issues. She is an adjunct professor of law at Fordham University, School of Law, teaching a course on data security and privacy, as well as fundamental lawyering skills, and a member of the Diversity in Privacy Section of the IAPP.
