Anna Mercado Clark Named Development Director for AABANY

New York, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP Partner Anna Mercado Clark, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, FIP has been elected to the board of directors for the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) as the development director. Ms. Clark was originally appointed to the role in January 2022 to fill a vacancy. She ran for the development director position and was elected at the Annual Meeting in February to serve a full one-year term for the 2022 fiscal year, beginning April 1, 2022.

The AABANY is a not-for-profit corporation representing the interests of New York Asian-American attorneys, judges, law professors, legal professionals, legal assistants or paralegals and law students. Its mission is to improve the study and practice of law, and the fair administration of justice for all by ensuring the meaningful participation of Asian-Americans in the legal profession.

Ms. Clark has been involved with the AABANY since before graduating law school in 2005 and has been a part of the organization’s Trial Reenactment Team for over a decade. As development director, she will assist in planning, developing, implementing and managing the financial resources and efforts of the AABANY to fundraise and obtain sponsorships, and will seek opportunities to increase the AABANY’s financial resources, among other responsibilities.

Ms. Clark is leader of Phillips Lytle’s Data Security & Privacy Practice Team. She has extensive experience advising businesses in the technology, consumer, health care, real estate, insurance, energy, construction, government and financial industries regarding information management, litigation readiness, cross-border data transfers, third-party data risk management disaster recovery and avoidance. She is a Fellow of the American Bar Association. She has also been awarded the following ANSI-accredited credentials by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP): Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E); Certified Information Privacy Professional for the U.S. Private Sector (CIPP/US); and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). She has also been designated as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
