New York, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP Partner Anna Mercado Clark is moderating a panel discussion September 22 at the 2021 General Counsel East Conference, organized by ALM, the parent company of The American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel and Law.com. Titled Outsmarting the Smart Ones: Minimizing Risks in the Face of Increasingly Sophisticated Hacking Attacks, this discussion will focus on how businesses can protect themselves and maintain a proper level of security during a time of frequent cyber attacks.

As the leader of the Phillips Lytle Data Security & Privacy and E-Discovery & Digital Forensics Practice Teams, Ms. Clark focuses her practice on complex e-discovery and digital forensics, cybersecurity and data privacy, as well as commercial litigation. She has been awarded several ANSI-accredited credentials by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), including the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Professional for the U.S. Private Sector (CIPP/US). The CIPM certification recognizes Ms. Clark’s ability to build, operate and manage data privacy programs that are compliant with both privacy laws and regulations, and the CIPP/E and CIPP/US are preeminent certifications for advanced concentration in European data protection laws and U.S. private-sector laws, standards and practices, respectively.

This panel discussion will provide detailed information on how companies can better protect themselves from cyber attacks. Ms. Clark will dive into policies and regulations that protect businesses and govern privacy practices, and she will offer insights into how to stay properly equipped with effective security protocols amid remote and hybrid work environments. The panelists will also discuss the role of sophisticated workplace training in ensuring business resilience and continuity.
