Phillips Lytle partners Frederick G. Attea, Sharon Prise Azurin, Kelly E. Marks and keynote speaker James G. Sheehan, Chief of the State of New York Charities Bureau, will review the latest regulatory developments in not-for-profit organization governance. The panel will discuss the role of directors in not-for-profit governance, their fiduciary duties and obligations, and New York State Attorney General oversight. The program will provide volunteer directors with guidance on the development and implementation of compliance programs, director indemnification and other mechanisms that may help protect directors from liability.
The seminar will also provide an update on New York’s Nonprofit Revitalization Act, including problems encountered, efforts to amend and guidance promulgated by the Charities Bureau.
