Rochester, N.Y. —Phillips Lytle LLP has named Chad W. Flansburg, a Partner with the firm, as its Rochester Office Leader, succeeding Jillian M. Dunbar after she skillfully guided the firm’s recent relocation to Innovation Square. The transition marks the next phase of the firm’s continued investment in regional growth, talent development and exceptional client service in the Rochester market.
As Rochester Office Leader, Mr. Flansburg will oversee the firm’s local operations and continue advancing Phillips Lytle’s presence in downtown Rochester and deepening its roots throughout the region. In addition to supporting the firm’s clients, Mr. Flansburg will also focus on fostering collaboration across practice areas, mentoring rising attorneys and strengthening the firm’s engagement with the Rochester business and legal communities.
“I’m honored to serve as Rochester Office Leader and build on the strong foundation that my colleagues in Rochester have established for Phillips Lytle regionally,” said Mr. Flansburg. “Our Rochester office is well positioned for continued success, with momentum rising behind our meaningful local client work and its impact in the region. From supporting major development projects to advising significant regional employers, our attorneys are always working closely with our clients to strengthen and grow the Rochester and Finger Lakes region.”
A respected litigator who has helped grow Phillips Lytle’s Litigation Practice, Mr. Flansburg is an accomplished trial lawyer with extensive first-chair trial experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Mr. Flansburg’s practice includes construction litigation, business disputes, appellate matters and high-stakes commercial litigation across a broad range of industries.
Mr. Flansburg has been named to The Daily Record’s Power 20 Litigation List, as well as Rochester Business Journal’s Attorneys of the Year, and is active in the Rochester legal and business communities through leadership and professional service roles. He will continue to serve his clients as he takes on his expanded regional leadership role.
“Rochester is an important market for our firm, and we are determined to keep growing and investing in this region,” said Phillips Lytle Managing Partner Douglas W. Dimitroff. “Jillian’s leadership was instrumental in advancing our Rochester strategy and successfully guiding the office through a transformative period. We’re grateful for her impact and excited to have her focus on building the firm’s multifaceted Banking and Financial Services Practice.
“As an outstanding litigator and experienced leader for Phillips Lytle, Chad has the right mix of skills, expertise and regional knowledge to drive the firm’s growth and bolster our reputation as trusted advisors who deliver exceptional client service,” Mr. Dimitroff added.
Ms. Dunbar will continue her practice as a Partner with the firm, focusing primarily on commercial lending and community development work regionally and nationally. Under Ms. Dunbar’s leadership, Phillips Lytle strengthened its Rochester footprint, highlighted by its expansion and relocation to Innovation Square—a move designed to support long-term growth, attract top legal talent and reinforce the firm’s commitment to downtown Rochester.
“Helping lead our Rochester office through this exciting period of growth and transition has been incredibly rewarding,” said Ms. Dunbar. “With our move to Innovation Square complete, this is a natural next step for both the office and for me professionally as I continue focusing on building my practice and helping clients navigate quickly shifting economic conditions. I’m proud of the strong foundation our team has built and look forward to supporting Chad in his expanded leadership role.”
