Buffalo, N.Y. – Joanna J. Chen, an attorney, with Phillips Lytle LLP, a premier regional law firm that is recognized nationally for its legal excellence, was a panelist at the Cornell Law School Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) Academy.
Ms. Chen’s panel took place at Myron Taylor Hall, at Cornell Law School. A panel of four associate attorneys addressed the topic “What Interviewers Want.” The day-long APALSA event provided law students with insights on how to prepare for law firm interviews, including mock interview and critique sessions.
At Phillips Lytle, Ms. Chen concentrates her practice in the areas of products liability, and complex commercial disputes, including theft of trade secrets, breaches of contract, business torts, and regulatory compliance. She has experience in federal and state motion practice, appellate practice, depositions, and e-discovery. She is also a member of the firm’s Class Action and Government Operations Teams.
In 2014, Ms. Chen was named to Lawyers of Color’s Second Annual Hot List, which recognizes early- to mid-career minority attorneys working as in-house counsel, government attorneys, and law firm associates and partners.
In 2012, she was an honoree of the New York State Bar Association Empire State Counsel® Program for Pro Bono Work.
Ms. Chen earned her J.D. from Cornell Law School and dual B.A. and B.B.A. degrees, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ms. Chen is a member of the American Bar Association and its Business Law, Litigation and Young Lawyers Sections; the Bar Association of Erie County; the Minority Bar Association of Western New York; the National Association of Women Lawyers; the New York State Bar Association and its Commercial & Federal Law and Young Lawyers Sections; and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, WNY Chapter.
