Phillips Lytle, Labor & Employment Webinar, NY Hero Act

Phillips Lytle LLP Hosts Webinar Titled “NY Hero Act: What Employers Need to Know”

Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP will host a webinar Wednesday, August 11 at 10 a.m. focused on employer requirements under the New York Health and Essential Rights Act (NY HERO Act). James R. Grasso, a partner at Phillips Lytle, will lead the discussion and provide an overview of how companies can comply with the new law and prepare for future infectious disease events.

The NY HERO Act, passed into law in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, requires employers to adopt Airborne Infectious Disease Exposure Prevention Plans that protect workplace health and safety during future infectious disease outbreaks. The state has created a new Airborne Infectious Disease Exposure Prevention Standard and model plans to assist employers in developing their plans.

Employers were required to adopt or establish prevention plans by August 5. This webinar will help companies ensure they’re in compliance with the NY HERO Act. Mr. Grasso will outline specific requirements and timelines that employers need to know.

Mr. Grasso represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. He defends employers against workplace-related lawsuits, including those involving employment discrimination and harassment claims, wage and hour violations, breach of contract, whistleblower claims and wrongful termination. His experience includes conducting workplace investigations and counseling employers on workplace compliance issues, employee discipline, workplace policies and practices, employee confidentiality and non-compete agreements, wage and hour issues, leave issues and reasonable accommodation of disabled employees. Mr. Grasso also defends management against union organizing campaigns and unfair labor practice charges, and represents management in collective bargaining negotiations and labor arbitrations. He regularly appears on behalf of employers in federal and state courts and arbitration proceedings, and before the EEOC, NLRB, USDOL, OSHA, New York State Division of Human Rights and New York City Commission on Human Rights. His practice also extends to defending companies against website accessibility lawsuits.
