FOR A DATA INCIDENT?” TO AIMS MEMBERS

Washington, D.C. – Phillips Lytle will present to members of AIMS including Heads of Schools and IT at an exclusive program about data security risks that schools face, and the legal requirements and some best practices to follow during incident response. The program will also provide AIMS member schools with a simulated data security incident to test the schools’ existing practices and know-how. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 14 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon at Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. Phillips Lytle Partner & Data Security and Privacy Team Leader Jennifer A. Beckage will present.

Phillips Lytle offers in-depth experience advising clients, including schools, on the legal issues surrounding data security and privacy matters. The firm has experience counseling clients engaged in evaluating and drafting data security policies, responding to data breaches, and facing litigation or government investigation relating to a data security incident. The firm’s Data Security & Privacy Team includes former technology business owners, computer programmers, and experienced education counsel, which makes them uniquely positioned to advise schools preparing to protect against, and respond to, data security incidents.

Before beginning her legal career, Ms. Beckage was an owner of a technology company. She successfully helped lead the company through an acquisition to a publicly traded company in which she was retained in a management role overseeing operations of an e-services line of products in 11 states.

Ms. Beckage concentrates her practice on complex business disputes and commercial litigation involving, among other things, data breaches, cyberattacks, ransomware, intellectual property, employee disloyalty, violations of non-compete agreements and other employment matters, breaches of contract, fraud matters, food product litigation, class actions, corporate compliance with regulatory bodies, and government investigations.
