Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP Partner Jennifer A. Beckage, Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US), will speak at “Life After Law School,” a two-day CLE event being held by the Bar Association of Erie County beginning on Thursday, April 19th. Day one of the program will take place at the Bar Association of Erie County, 438 Main Street in Buffalo.
Ms. Beckage’s presentation is titled “Tips for Starting and Building a Practice/What Every New Lawyer Needs to Know.”
Life after Law School is a transitional Continuing Legal Education program designed to assist newly admitted attorneys as they assume primary practice responsibilities. It is intended to bridge the gap between law school and the day-to-day practice of law. Experienced presenters from the local bench and bar explain essential techniques and procedures that may not have been covered in law school.
Ms. Beckage has been a long-time presenter at the Life After Law School CLE event. She is a former elected Director for the Bar Association of Erie County, and former chair of the committee that put together the Life After Law School program.
As the firm’s Data Security & Privacy Team Leader, Ms. Beckage’s legal practice is focused on cybersecurity, data breach litigation, risk management, privacy, regulatory law and law enforcement. As a former technology entrepreneur and executive with a publicly traded company, Ms. Beckage brings a unique perspective to complex commercial litigation and data security matters.
Ms. Beckage is considered a thought leader in this space and regularly speaks on data security and privacy topics. She leads a team of more than 20 data security and privacy attorneys across Phillips Lytle’s footprint. The team regularly identifies and analyzes issues that IT departments might overlook to help put companies in legally defensible positions.
