PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP PARTNER GREGORY L. PETERSON PARTICIPATES IN
THE 11TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW DIALOGS

Jamestown, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP Partner Gregory H. Peterson participated in the 11th International Humanitarian Law Dialogs event titled “Changing Times: New Opportunities for International Justice and Accountability.” The event was held August 27-29 at the Robert H. Jackson Center in Jamestown. Mr. Peterson led a discussion regarding the prosecution of the members of the Khmer Rouge with international prosecutors Robert Petit, Andrew Cayley and current Co-Prosecutor of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, Nicholas Koumjian.

The Law Dialogs is an historic gathering of current and former international war crimes tribunal prosecutors, renowned academics, and law experts, who are invited to speak on current issues centered on a theme. The culminating event of this year’s conference was the issuance of the Nuremberg Declaration, issued by all International Prosecutors in attendance. The declaration states, “the challenge for States and for the international community is to fulfill the promise of the law they created; to enforce judicial decisions; [and] to ensure the arrest and surrender of sought individuals….” Annually the Law Dialogs continue to strive to honor these notions and to advance the field of International Humanitarian Law.

Mr. Peterson, Director and Co-Founder of the Robert H. Jackson Center, focuses his practice in all areas of real estate, including development and financial transactions, areas of corporate counseling including acquisitions, administration and strategic planning, not-for-profit corporate formation, tax exemption and qualification with New York State administrative areas.
