PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP PARTNER CRAIG R. BUCKI NAMED 2017 LIBERTY BELL AWARD WINNER BY BAR ASSOCIATION OF ERIE COUNTY

Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP Partner Craig R. Bucki will receive the Liberty Bell Award from the Bar Association of Erie County. He will receive the award in recognition of his “invaluable service and tireless dedication” in chairing the Bar Association of Erie County’s Mock Trial Program for the past six years. The award will be presented on Friday, April 21st at the Bar Association of Erie County 2017 Law Day Luncheon.

Mr. Bucki is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Law, Youth and Citizenship Committee and the Chair of its Mock Trial Subcommittee, which prepares the annual fact pattern used in the Statewide High School Mock Trial Tournament throughout New York.

Established in 1964, the Liberty Bell Award is the highest award bestowed at the Law Day program. The purpose of this award is to recognize community service that has strengthened the American system of freedom under the law and to accord public recognition to those who, among other criteria, have encouraged a greater respect for the law and the courts; fostered a better understanding and appreciation of the rule of law; and stimulated a deeper sense of individual responsibility so that citizens recognize their duties as well as their rights.

Mr. Bucki focuses his practice on litigation involving state and municipal government, public authorities, and other quasi-governmental entities. In this practice area, Mr. Bucki has experience in prosecuting disciplinary hearings against public employees, representing political candidates in election law disputes, challenging the constitutionality of state statutes and municipal ordinances, obtaining review of the decisions of state and municipal agencies in special proceedings pursuant to Article 78 of the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules, and advising governmental clients concerning issues of governance and compliance with state law. Mr. Bucki also devotes a portion of his practice to representing business entities in commercial disputes and homeowners’ associations in enforcing real property covenants.
