PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP, THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF THE N.Y. COURTS AND SUNY BUFFALO LAW SCHOOL TO PRESENT “WESTERN NEW YORK WOMEN PIONEERS IN THE LAW: A CELEBRATION”

Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP, The Historical Society of the N.Y. Courts and SUNY Buffalo Law School are presenting “Western New York Women Pioneers in the Law: A Celebration” on Thursday, November 5th. The event will be held at SUNY Buffalo Law School, UB North Campus, John Lord O’Brian Hall, Rm. 106, Buffalo, NY, 14260.

Phillips Lytle Partner Michael B. Powers will present the section on Charlotte SmallwoodCook, the first woman District Attorney in New York (Wyoming County, 1950-1953).

Mr. Powers received his B.A. from St. Bonaventure University, his M.A. from Niagara University and his J.D., summa cum laude, from Western New England University School of Law. He is listed as a Leading Individual in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, 2015, in The Best Lawyers in America© and Upstate New York Super Lawyers®. Mr. Powers was honored as “Citizen of the Year” in 2013 by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce and was inducted into the Clarence High School Wall of Fame the same year. He has also received The Henry J. Kreher Conservation Award from the Western New York Land Conservancy for his commitment to protecting critical green space and wildlife habitat, St. Bonaventure’s Gaudete Medal, Leadership Buffalo’s Values Award, the Make A Wish Association Shooting Star Award and the FBI Agents Association award for integrity and service.
