Every year I enjoy meeting the 30 Under 30 honorees and hearing about the things they have accomplished. They may be in the early stages of their careers but they dominate their workplaces, filling key positions and leading their peers. Career paths range from accounting, law and real estate to government and everything in between.

They volunteer countless hours in the community and serve as cheerleaders for a region they love.

One thing is certain: This year’s honorees are inspiring. Working with them to prepare for this publication and the upcoming awards event has been a lot of fun. You will see why when you read more about them.

The sixth annual 30 Under 30 is sponsored by Business First and the University at Buffalo School of Management. Winners were chosen from more than 100 nominations by judges who were honored in recent years for their own accomplishments.

Judges were:

Jennifer Beckage, partner, Phillips Lytle LLP (40 Under 40, 2014)
Marty Boryszak, president/CEO, Sisters of Charity Hospital (40 Under 40, 2016)
Shatorah Donovan, director of development, Buffalo Museum of Science (30 Under 30, 2014)
Matthew Escobar, financial professional, AXA Advisors LLC (30 Under 30, 2016)
Beth Potozniak, general manager of the Outer Harbor, Be Our Guest Ltd. (30 Under 30, 2014)

Among the factors they considered: career achievement, leadership, initiative and community engagement. The winners will be honored at a party and awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m., June 21 at The Tralf in Buffalo.

Keep an eye on these men and women. I am sure you will see more great things to come from them.
