PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP SPECIAL COUNSEL JON P. YORMICK TO SPEAK AT EVENT ON INTERNATIONAL TRAFFIC IN ARMS REQUIREMENTS

Rochester, N.Y. – Jon P. Yormick, special counsel for Phillips Lytle LLP, will speak at the “International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) Fact vs. Myth!” event hosted by the Monroe County Finger Lakes Procurement Technical Assistance Center. The event will take place Wednesday, April 26, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at High Tech Rochester, 150 Lucius Gordon Drive, West Henrietta, NY 14586.

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requires those that manufacture, export, or temporarily import defense articles, and those that provide defense services to register with the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). A single transaction or event triggers this legal requirement. Those that “broker” transactions involving defense articles and defense services must register as well.

Mr. Yormick will provide guidance on what manufacturers/companies, non-profits, colleges, and universities need to know about registering with the DDTC, what to do if a company has not registered with DDTC, but should have, and whether Export Control Reform (ECR) might relieve a party of DDTC registration.

Mr. Yormick is an experienced international business and trade lawyer, practicing for more than 20 years. He has represented clients in the advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, aerospace and defense, distribution, electronics, energy, medical device, oil/gas, pharmaceuticals, professional services, steel, textiles and apparel, and transportation/logistics sectors.
